PLANT-BASED BRAND OZO LAUNCHES NEW FROZEN RANGE
Planterra Foods has launched a line of meat-free frozen food products under its OZO brand, less than a year after the range debuted with several refrigerated offerings.
OZO’s frozen burgers and sausages are available now, while later this year further plant-based frozen products – vegan versions of chicken nuggets, chicken patties and Italian-style meatballs – will be added. The newly launched product lines are available in thousands of outlets across the United States.
In a statement released to the media, Darcey Macken, Planterra Foods’ CEO, said the new products would help consumers “to easily introduce meat-free options” into their meals.
“This year has changed the way so many of us enjoy and consume our meals,” she said “The OZO expansion into frozen plant-based proteins offers more opportunities for flexitarian consumption through high-quality foods with positive protein solutions. We remain committed to feeding further generations.”
Tapping into the growing popularity of meat-free meals, Planterra launched OZO last year with a range of foods for the refrigerated aisle of supermarkets. Among these were Mexican-influenced ground meat alternatives and vegan burger patties.
Based in Colorado in the United States, Planterra is owned by JBS USA, which is itself part of Brazil-based JBS, the world’s biggest meat processing company by sales.
