SIAL Paris cuts carbon footprint with bold sustainability measures in 2024
SIAL Paris is raising the bar on sustainability for its 2024 edition, introducing 100% recyclable carpets, renewable energy, and eco-friendly stands. With a clear focus on reducing its environmental footprint, the event is driving change across the agri-food sector.
Another significant move is in the design of exhibition stands. SIAL Paris is encouraging exhibitors to use reusable structures, rented furniture, and energy-efficient LED lighting. The aim? To make sure every stand is part of the bigger sustainability picture.
The event is also focused on cutting its carbon footprint. This includes using only renewable energy and taking simple but effective measures like reducing heating in certain halls by 10% compared to the previous year and turning off lights outside of operating hours. Visitors are also being encouraged to consider greener travel options, such as carpooling, public transport, or even opting for the train over flying.
Beyond just running a greener event, SIAL Paris is also celebrating those leading the charge in sustainability across the agri-food industry. Their SIAL for Change award will recognise exhibitors who are making real strides in CSR. On top of that, food waste won’t be going to landfill—surplus products will be donated to the Red Cross, ensuring they go to people in need.
Through these actions, SIAL Paris is not just reducing its own environmental footprint, but it’s setting an example for the entire agri-food industry. With initiatives like these, the message is clear: sustainability is not just a trend, it’s the future of the industry.
