Nicoya welcomes new board members to drive transformation of global food system
Swedish foodtech investor Nicoya is committed to revolutionising the global food system for the better
In line with this mission, Nicoya has appointed Kees Kruythoff, a former member of Unilever’s global executive team and President of both North America and the Global Home Care division, as its new Executive Chairman.
The board is further strengthened by the addition of Helena Hernander, Head of Private Equity Investments at AltoCumulus, a part of the Axel Johnson Group, and Anders Svensson, former CEO of ICA Sweden, the largest retail chain in the Nordics.

Kees Kruythoff’s Impressive Profile
Kees Kruythoff brings a wealth of global executive experience to Nicoya, including a remarkable 30-year tenure at Unilever. He was also part of the founding team of IMAGINE.one and served as Chairman and CEO of LiveKindly. Currently, Kruythoff holds the position of Senior Advisor at Bain Capital. With his extensive network and expertise in building global, sustainable solutions and organizations, as well as driving successful acquisitions in the food industry, he is a valuable addition to the board.
Helena Hernander’s Finance Expertise
For the past 12 years, Helena Hernander has served as the Head of Private Equity Investments at Altocumulus, one of Sweden’s largest family offices. She is widely recognised as a highly accomplished finance professional with a proven track record in creating sustainable growth and generating returns on investments. Her experience in finance and investment will be instrumental in Nicoya’s strategic initiatives.
Anders Svensson’s Extensive Industry and Management Background
Anders Svensson brings deep industry and management experience to the board. Having successfully led ICA Sweden and Arla Foods, he has a solid understanding of the retail and food sectors. Svensson currently holds several positions, including Chairman of the Swedish Trade Federation and the Stadium sports chain, as well as serving on the board of the Swedish Confederation of Enterprise. His diverse expertise will provide valuable insights for Nicoya’s growth and development.
