A look back at the 2024 edition of Food and Drinks Malaysia by SIAL gives a glimpse ahead to the 2025 edition that’s just around the corner
Food & Drinks Malaysia by SIAL 2024, held from 2 to 4 July, was an exceptional platform for the food industry, attracting 12,283 trade visitors from 73 countries and 321 exhibitors from 18 different countries. With a gross exhibition area of 12,549 square metres, the event generated an estimated €152,626, 682 in sales, marking a major milestone for players in the sector.
The 2024 edition placed particular emphasis on innovation in anticipation of the SIAL Innovation competition scheduled for 2025. The organisers created an area dedicated to cutting-edge technologies and innovative products, enabling participants to discover disruptive innovations and sustainable solutions for the food industry. The aim of this initiative was to prepare the ground for next year’s competition by highlighting the importance of innovation in the sector.
Highlights and activities
Among the highlights, the 3rd Global Culinary Challenge Malaysia and the FDM2024 Halal Forum attracted particular attention. The Global Culinary Challenge showcased culinary talent from around the world, while the Halal Forum provided a platform for discussion on crucial topics such as the standardisation of halal products. These activities not only enriched the visitor experience but also strengthened the position of Food & Drinks Malaysia by SIAL as a must-attend event for food professionals.
Visitor profile and satisfaction surveys
The show attracted mainly manufacturers, distributors and F&B managers. According to a survey of 1,054 respondents, 50.5% rated the activities as excellent, and 53% praised the variety and quality of the exhibitors. An overall satisfaction rate of 98.1% was recorded among visitors, with 27.3% of attendees being final decision-makers and 52.9% influencing decisions in their companies. In addition, 69% of visitors made significant business connections and 74.2% discovered new products.
Exhibitors also expressed a high level of satisfaction. Of the 247 respondents to a survey, 79.4% rated their experience as good or excellent, and 63.6% achieved their exhibition objectives. The quality of visitors was rated as satisfactory by 87% of exhibitors, while 81% generated new business leads. These results underline the effectiveness of the show as a platform for growth and expansion into new markets.

At the close of the event, the dates for the next edition were announced: Food & Drinks Malaysia by SIAL will be held from 1 to 3 July 2025. The 2025 edition promises to be even more exceptional with the official launch of the SIAL Innovation competition, designed to recognise and reward the most promising innovations in the food industry. This competition will provide a unique showcase for companies to present their products and stand out on the international stage.
