With 160 exhibitors and almost 3,000 visitors, the Netherlands has confirmed its place as one of the major players at SIAL Paris 2024. Here’s a look back at a participation that illustrates the exporting power of this country at the heart of the global food economy

The Netherlands was one of the main contributors to SIAL Paris 2024, with around 160 exhibitors present. Of these, 110 participated directly, while the rest took part via the national pavilion organised by Gielissen. This level of participation reflects not only the commitment of Dutch companies to the agri-food sector, but also the exceptional export capacity of the country, ranked as the world’s second largest exporter of food products.

Dutch exhibitors presented a diverse range of innovative products, responding to global trends such as sustainability, plant-based alternatives and food technology. Their presence was a true testament to the diversity and quality of the Dutch food offering today.

An international audience

In terms of visitors, the Netherlands also stood out, with almost 3,000 present at the show. This strong attendance made the Netherlands the second largest international contributor of visitors to the show. These visitors included some heavyweight buyers, representing the biggest Dutch retail chains, such as Ahold Delhaize, Superunie and Jumbo.

The quality of the Dutch visitors added to the dynamic of the show, creating opportunities for collaboration and stimulating business exchanges. Their presence illustrates the strategic importance of SIAL Paris for Dutch food professionals, both on the exhibitor and visitor side.

Diplomatic recognition and an exclusive event

To mark their participation, the Netherlands received active support from their diplomatic representatives. Mrs Offermans, the Dutch ambassador to France, honoured the show with her visit, touring the stands of a cross-section of exhibitors to talk directly with them. Her presence underlined the importance of SIAL Paris as a promotional platform for Dutch companies.

The Dutch Embassy also organised an exclusive cocktail party on Monday evening, bringing together exhibitors, visitors and Dutch journalists. This convivial event served to strengthen ties within the Dutch community present at the show, while also fostering new opportunities for networking and collaboration.
