SIAL Paris 2024: A look back at a 60ᵉ edition rich in exchanges and innovations
From 19 to 23 October 2024, SIAL Paris was held at the Parc des Expositions de Paris Nord Villepinte, bringing together food industry professionals for its 60ᵉ edition. This international event enabled participants to discover innovations, discuss industry trends and forge strategic partnerships.
Striking international representation
With 130 countries represented and 7,500 exhibitors, SIAL Paris 2024 offered notable diversity in the products and services on offer. Italy, the guest of honour, took centre stage with a pavilion showcasing its flagship products and culinary demonstrations. Among the visitors, 8,000 international buyers took part in business meetings organised in advance to optimise trade.
Exhibitors showcased a variety of products across 10 key sectors, from basic ingredients to technological innovations. Alternative proteins, in particular, attracted a great deal of interest, reflecting a growing trend towards sustainable food solutions.
Debates and celebrations around food issues
The SIAL Summits addressed a number of topical issues, including artificial intelligence applied to the food industry, the sustainability of supply chains and consumer expectations in terms of social responsibility. These conferences, led by experts, attracted a varied audience, with strong participation from professionals looking for concrete solutions.
The evening organised to mark the 60ᵉ anniversary brought participants together around a cultural and gastronomic programme. This moment highlighted products and recipes presented by exhibitors, offering an illustration of the innovations and know-how shared at the show.
Innovation at the heart of the presentations
The SIAL Innovation competition showcased 300 products with solutions that responded to market trends. The Gold Grand Prix was awarded to Sabarot for its preparations for vegetable patties, while other products, such as alternatives to plastic packaging and functional drinks, also attracted attention.
The Start-up Village welcomed emerging companies offering technologies such as food freshness sensors or traceability platforms, illustrating the evolution of the tools available to professionals.
SIAL Paris 2024 stood out for the diversity of its discussions and its focus on solutions tailored to the challenges facing the food industry. This year’s event provided an ideal setting for exploring current trends and discovering future innovations.
