SIAL Innovation to accompany 2024 theme “Own the Change”
More than ever this year, SIAL Innovation will highlight new developments to expect in tomorrow’s world. In the 2024 edition the theme is “Own the Change”, and SIAL Innovation will be the forum where agri-food professionals talk about invention, transition, re-invention and foresight.
SIAL Paris has been at the forefront of trends and innovation in the agri-food industry from its beginnings. 2024 will be no exception as the world’s largest food industry show celebrates its 60th anniversary. SIAL Innovation will provide visitors with expert and up-to-date content on innovation and market developments worldwide. In 2022, from the 2,500 products presented at SIAL Paris, 550 shortlisted resulting in 3 award winners with a further 14 product category prizes.
Criteria to participate
Participants in the SIAL Innovation contest must meet certain conditions. The first is to be an exhibitor at the show (an individual or members of a group that has signed up as registered exhibitors). The exhibitor can present one or more products, each of which must comply with following criteria:
– Must provide edible food product for the food processing industry.
– All participants should declare and guarantee that they own the intellectual property rights relating to the product presented or, have been duly authorised by the owner of the intellectual property rights relating to the presented product for the competition.
– Participants shall guarantee that their products comply with the legislation of the original country or the country in which they are located.
The selection committee made up of expert professionals in innovation and the food industry will then deliberate and keep participants informed of their decision by email. Starting back in Janurary and open until August, SIAL has a platform dedicated to exhibitors interested in registering for this international competition where they can declare their innovative products. These products are submitted to an expert Selection Committee led by SIAL’s partner, XTC, and then to a Grand Jury from the sector who will nominate the most innovative products in each category.
The independent jury of experts from food industry has the following task:
– It shall examine the innovative qualities specific to products, even if they are not finalised (test to launch phase).
– It shall judge as a priority the relevance of whatever new benefit the product offers the consumer / or the industry (merchandising, packaging, recipe, technology, etc…)
– It shall award top prizes to the products that are considered the most innovative of all products selected
The official jury is the sole party authorised to select the products presented for the awards and the jury’s decision shall be final.
Many benefits for exhibitors with a trophy
It is important that exhibitors register as soon as they book their stand so that the products can be selected by the Selection Committee on a run-of-the-mill basis. The results of the winners will then be announced at the ceremony on the first day of the show, Saturday 19th October 2024.
This SIAL Innovation competition is highly anticipated by exhibitors at the show, as obtaining a trophy represents a real boost for the winning companies. It provides high visibility and numerous contact opportunities. By presenting their products at the SIAL Innovation competition, the exhibitor, if selected, ensures maximum visibility before, during and after the show.
Since 1996, SIAL Innovation is well attended by the trade (agri-food professionals but also public institutions and media) who are eager to learn about the new products presented at SIAL Innovation.
Selected exhibitors will be able to use the “SIAL Innovation” logo, which ensures them well-deserved recognition among professionals. Their products will be highlighted in the online list of exhibitors. Moreover, if they win, their products will travel throughout the SIAL Network. This includes Jakarta, Montreal, China, Malaysia and India. They will be displayed in a showcase with the exhibitor’s contact details.
