NEW COMPANY AIMS TO SHAKE UP SUPPLY OF FROZEN FOOD INGREDIENTS
A new venture supplying frozen ingredients sourced from across the world has been launched in the UK by senior figures from three food companies.
Rems Frozen Foods will initially supply individual quick freezing (IQF) ingredients to British and Irish food manufacturers, but plans to widen supply later.
The company has offices in the UK, China, Eastern Europe, Egypt, Spain and the United States, and said it offers “unique strategic sourcing capabilities”.
It has been set up by Steve Humphrey, Managing Director of The Tuber Group, along with James Kempley, Group Managing Director of Troy Foods, and Adam Shepherd, Managing Director of North Star Foods.
Based in Hessle in Yorkshire in the north of England, the new company is headed by Adam Shepherd as managing director.
In a statement, Shepherd said that the frozen food ingredient supply market was “ready for a shake up”.
“We plan to be established as a fully stand-alone business by the end of 2021 with a team of up to a dozen people, and to be the supplier of choice to all major UK and Irish food manufacturers,” he added.
“As well as serving the UK food industry, we also have plans to expand into European markets with ambitions to move further afield too.”
Among the ingredients the company supplies are carrots, chillies, garlic, ginger, mango, melon, mushrooms, onions, peas, peppers and tomatoes.
